This section, from pages 33 – 41 gives ‘the bad news’, what is going wrong now that means that major changes are coming whether we like it or not. It describes some of our main impacts on the Earth (climate change, mass extinction, fresh water scarcity, death of the oceans, etc.). It explains ‘peak oil’, or why cheap oil cannot continue, and the economic consequences of that: no return to economic growth.
